Moors Valley Country Park and Forest
If you’re looking for a fun day out for all the family, we highly recommend visiting Moors Valley Country Park and Forest. This popular family attraction is just 30 minutes-drive from Merley House Holiday Park and promises a fun day out for children of all ages.
Outdoor activities
Moors Valley Country Park is home to a wide variety of activities, all centred around the great outdoors. Pack a picnic and spend the day in the forest making happy family memories together! Activities include play tails, adventure golf, cycle hire, Gruffalo sculpture trail and a miniature steam train. There’s even a Go Ape high ropes course if you’re feeling brave. There’s a small cost for some activities, whilst others are completely free.
Walking and cycle tails
For visitors without children, Moors Valley is still an excellent day out. Away from the busy attractions, there’s plenty of peaceful footpaths and cycle paths to explore. Along the way you might be lucky enough to spot some of the local wildlife. Keep your eyes peeled for butterflies, birds and deer!
Keen golfers can enjoy an 18-hole golf course, which you can play on a season ticket or ‘pay and play’ basis. There’s also a 5-hole pitch and putt course for beginners and families.
Events
Moors Valley plays host to a number of seasonal events each year, including the Pedal at the Park mountain bike event and Santa Special train rides. The park rangers also put on extra activities during the school holidays, great for if you have grandchildren visiting your holiday home or lodge.
Food and drink
There’s a small selection of places to eat and drink at Moors Valley Country Park. Of course, you can bring your own picnic, or you can treat the family to a tasty meal in Season restaurant. The are also a handful or kiosks selling ice creams and other refreshments, if you’re in the mood for a quick snack.
