Studland is a picturesque beach that’s popular among wildlife enthusiasts, nature lovers and beachgoers who enjoy long sandy stretches. Soak in the stunning views along these four miles of unspoilt beaches on the Dorset World Heritage Coast and be amazed by the breathtaking views of Old Harry Rocks on one side and watch the boats sail into Sandbanks on the other.
Studland Bay is a popular seaside destination among families as this sheltered bay has plenty of spots to build your sandcastle empires and take on an adventure into the dunes.
Studland is also a favourite destination for wildlife enthusiasts, especially those who enjoy birdwatching and nature spotting. For those interested in exploring underwater life, bring your snorkelling gear to Middle Beach and discover the beauty of its vibrant underwater scenery. Looking for something else to do on the water? The bay is nicely sheltered so it’s the perfect spot to take your paddleboard or hire a pedlo.
Facilities at Studland
All National Trust car parks offer convenient toilet facilities. All beaches at Studland are dog friendly but the Natioanl Trust kindly requests that owners keep dogs on a lead of less than 2 metres while on the beach, from 1 May – 30 September. Koll Beach offers a café, gift shop and beach hut book shop which is open all year round.
Parking at Studland
Studland Bay offers many car parks all conveniently located along its extensive shoreline. You’ll find three National Trust car parks. Next to Shell Bay Terminal, you’ll find parking near the Sandbanks ferry (sat nav BH19 3BA). Knoll Beach parking is centrally located (sat nav BH19 3AQ) and Middle Beach Car Park is closer to Old Harry Rocks (sat nav BH19 3AX). These car parks are free to National Trust members, while there is a small fee for non-members. South Beach Car Park (sat nav BH19 3AU) is another option for parking near Old Harry Rocks.
If you want to shorten your journey by 10 miles and add a boat ride to your experience, take the chain ferry from Sandbanks. There is a fee to take the ferry, check out their website for the latest tolls and timetables.
